About Us

The Village School of Dance is run by Katherine Richardson BA (Hons) LRAD, ARAD and was set up in 2008. Prior to this, Katherine had been teaching at the school for three years and has since expanded the range of classes on offer to suit the needs of the dancers who attend.

The Village School of Dance prides itself on a family-friendly atmosphere where children attend because they want to, and the adults come along to keep fit and have a giggle!

Syllabus

Ballet lessons follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and whilst most of the jazz and tap classes follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Syllabus, some also involve free work where the school has set up its own format to follow.

Throughout all classes, the students are given the opportunity to improvise and choreograph their own routines. For example, junior jazz classes are filled with routines danced to songs from High School Musical to Mama Mia!

Examinations in jazz, tap and ballet are taken every three to four terms and the school has a 100% pass rate.
